An RTI response has disclosed that the Cabinet Secretary's office forwarded acknowledgements of letters from two Election Commissioners (ECs) to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to the CEC's office for 'information'.
This act of copying pertained specifically to the acknowledgement of receipt of the original letters, not the original correspondence itself.
The revelation raises questions regarding established communication protocols and the perceived autonomy of the Election Commission.
